Meet the Artists Behind Denver Song Lab

Write it. Shape it. Bring it to life. At  Denver Song Lab, our team guides you through a collaborative songwriting experience, turning your story into a finished song.

Taylor Plasz

Taylor is a professional songwriter and vocal coach who believes every voice has a story waiting to be sung. With over 15 years of experience as a singer/songwriter, she brings both technical skill and artistic depth to every session. Her love for songwriting started at age 2, singing catchy phrases on her Fisher-Price tape box. Raised on both coasts, Taylor began performing seriously at 13, singing in local jazz and blues bands in Portland, Maine (which meant her parents came along just so she could get through the door!)

At 15, she moved to Los Angeles and started writing for Universal Music while working on her first EP. Eventually, Taylor made her way to Denver, Colorado where she created Dear Luna, a pop/rock band in which she is the lead singer and primary songwriter. She also collaborates with local artists and producers, writing for DJs such as Willbeaux and Andy Immerman, while developing her own pop project with producer Brian Kruesi (Krüzee)

No prior songwriting or singing experience is required—just an idea and the desire to create. Taylor and the team at Denver Song Lab turn your ideas into songs that resonate—every lyric, melody, and note guided by experienced collaborators.

Brian Kruesi

Producer & Mixing Engineer

Brian Kruesi, also known as Krüzee, is a multi-instrumentalist and music producer specializing in pop, dance, and electronic music. With a strong foundation in both musicality and modern production, he works closely with artists to transform raw ideas into fully realized, release-ready records.

At Denver Song Lab, Brian plays a key role in elevating each song beyond its acoustic foundation. After the songwriting and demo process, he adds production layers, instrumentation, and “ear candy” that bring depth, energy, and emotion to the track—helping each song feel dynamic, current, and uniquely tailored to the artist.

Known for his collaborative and intuitive approach, Brian focuses on enhancing the artist’s original vision rather than overpowering it. His work bridges the gap between authentic storytelling and polished production, ensuring every song not only sounds professional but still feels personal.

Clients also have the opportunity to work with Brian in his home studio, where songs can be further developed, recorded, and refined in a comfortable, creative environment. Whether adding subtle textures or building out a full production, Brian’s goal is always the same: to create music that connects and lasts.

Mateo Segovilla

Guitarist & Song Production Coach

Mateo Segovia, an eager multi-instrumentalist, has been a part of many groups throughout his long history of being a professional musician and collaborated with other artists many times along the way. Today he is most known for his work with Dear Luna and Ransom Act providing gripping riffs, ambient sounds, melodic solos, and background vocals to their songs, but he can also be heard playing bass and singing with The Regular, on guitar with Triple Kick on tracks featuring hip hop artists like Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Redman & Method Man, Pacewon, Kuniva, Swift McVay, and Rah Digga. During his time spent living in Dallas, TX, Mateo attended Booker T Washington HSPVA where he would study classical music, contemporary music, jazz vocals, and music theory all while playing violin with Frankie Leonie and guitar with Cinema For The Blind outside of school.

Mateo loves to play rock the most but is versed and can play Country, Jazz, Metal, Blues, and R&B. Influences range from John Mayer, Foo Fighters, Queens Of The Stone Age, Queen, and many more!

In this program, Mateo will be assisting you with crafting the chords to your very own song and making a chord chart to accompany your acoustic demo! He can play guitar and bass and help make your song feel like a full band song!

Luke Hardcastle

Guitarist & Song Production Coach

Luke is a singer/songwriter in his band Ransom Act and runs his own music school, Rhythm and Brews. He grew up homeschooled in a musical family, where piano was everyone’s first instrument and each day began with a wake-up song and ended with a lullaby. In high school, he played in bands with Randall Kent and Crisanta Baker (of Lo Moon), learning the craft of songwriting and musical execution.

After college, Luke taught himself drums, experimenting with everything from ZZ Top to Incubus, and creating percussion patterns inspired by Nickel Creek. He never stopped writing songs, and after nearly a decade working with kids with autism, he chose to fully dedicate himself to music. Playing solo gigs and collaborating with anyone looking to create music around Denver, Luke eventually connected with the other members of Dear Luna and hasn’t looked back.

Luke brings versatility on instruments, creativity in songwriting, and rich harmonies to the band. He also brings his experience as a teacher and music director into the studio, helping students build melodies and chords, while guiding them through demo recordings.

How We Build Your Song Together

01

Explore Influences & Ideas

We start by exploring the stories you want to tell and the music that inspires you. Together, we shape your ideas into a clear theme and emotional hook, using a guided workbook you can do exercises at home to continue journaling and developing your songs.

02

Shape Lyrics & Story

Turn your thoughts into cohesive lyrics. We will guide you through a refined process of crafting verses and a chorus that resonate, regardless of your previous writing experience.

03

Craft Melody & Structure

Work with musicians who help bring your song to life. Together, we take your lyrics and melody and build the music around them, crafting chords, structure, and flow that support your sound.

We focus on the full architecture of your song so it not only sounds good, but feels complete!

04

Collaborate & Finalize

Bring your song to life with the help of our collaborating musicians. Our team will work with you to shape the instrumentation around your story, creating a hands-on and supportive studio experience for every skill level. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a chord chart, your finalized lyrics, and a rough demo of your song that you can sing along to and continue developing.
